General Information
DescriptionPantothenate kinase 1 (ec (pantothenic acid kinase 1) (hpank1) (hpank).
SpeciesHomo sapiens (NCBI taxonomy ID: 9606)
Domain Architecture (Details)
InterPro domains unassigned to SynO:
Fumble is required for cell division in Drosophila. Mutants lacking fumble exhibit abnormalities in bipolar spindle organisation.hromosome segregation.nd contractile ring formation. Analyses have demonstrated that it encodes three protein isoforms.ll of which contain a domain with high similarity to the pantothenate kinases of Emericella nidulans and mouse . A role of fumble in membrane synthesis has been proposed .
Pantothenate kinase () catalyses the conversion of CAATP and pantothenateto to ADP and D-4-phosphopantothenate.n the key regulatory step in the biosynthesis of coenzyme A (CoA) . This group describes a eukaryotic form of pantothenate kinase.haracterized from the fungus Emericella nidulans and with similar forms known in several other eukaryotes. It also includes forms from several Gram-positive bacteria suggested to have originated from the eukaryotic form by lateral transfer. It differs in a number of biochemical properties (such as inhibition by acetyl-CoA) from eubacterial PanK and shows little sequence similarity .
